Come and learn about how we can give all students- including those with significant disabilities- access to academic content & instruction. Dr. Kluth will explain how many learners have been excluded from academic experiences that are inclusive, rich, challenging, and meaningful. We explore the essential tenets of the “access to academics” classroom and highlight some of the teacher attitudes and beliefs that can inspire success in these classrooms. Participants will also learn specific strategies and structures that can be used to give all students access to general education curriculum. Some of the topics that will be discussed include helping all students meet the standards, raising teacher expectation, and recognizing signs of academic learning. Access to literacy instruction will be a special focus of this day-long workshop.
