Fellow Advisor Announcement

Miami Teaching Fellows (www.miamiteachingfellows.org) is a new alternative certification program designed to bring outstanding professionals to teach in M-DCPS starting in the summer of 2005.   We are currently seeking Fellow Advisors for our 2005 Pre-Service Training Institute.

What: The Fellow Advisor (FA) is one of the key players in the Fellows’ pre-service training and their readiness to enter the classroom. Each FA works directly with a group of 10 - 20 Fellows, observing them in their summer schools in the mornings and leading curriculum sessions in the afternoons. FAs are experienced and successful teachers, who guide Fellows as they learn to set high academic goals, invest students in these goals, and work strategically to meet them. Most importantly, FAs help to establish a culture of excellence within the Fellowship that drives Fellows to continually strive for quality and to support and challenge one another.

Who:  We are looking for excellent teachers, mentors, administrators and other education professionals to be Fellow Advisors.  We especially need FAs with expertise in math, science, elementary education and special education (ESE).

How: Application consists of: 1) resume, 2) a detailed cover letter that explains how you will use your past experience to prepare teachers in high need classrooms, 3) contact information for two references (one supervisor, one peer).

Send application to: gvincent@tntp.org and include “2005 Fellow Advisor” in the subject line.  Deadline to apply is May 4th

Visit www.miamiteachingfellows.org for more information on the program.

When: If selected, the FA position includes four phases of work, during which the hours and responsibilities of the FA vary:
